Sheikh Zayed Mosque

Sheikh Zayed Mosque is the most beautiful mosque in the United Arab Emirates.

Sheikh Zayed Mosque is located in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates. The mosque was built by the orders of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and he was buried close to it. The groundbreaking for the mosque started in 1996, and the construction of the mosque was completed on the 20th of December 2007.

The construction of such a huge building cost the government about two billion Dirhams, it cost a lot of money and time, to be the main mosque in the whole country and the entire Middle East region.

The mosque can house more than 41,000 persons. Its length is 420 meters, its width is 290 meters. The courtyard is about 17,000 square meters, it’s the largest marble mosaic in the world, it is very unqiue with its floral designs. The mosque contains 82 domes of different sizes, the biggest one’s height is 85 meters, and diameter is 32.2 meters. While it has got four minarets; one at each corner, and the minarets’ height is 107 meters high.

The mosque includes a library at the northern eastern side of the mosque, the library contains some unique books that are published 200 years ago.

The mosque’s materials and designers were from the whole world such as India, United Kingdom, Iran, Italy, Malaysia, Morocco, New Zealand, Pakistan, Germany, China, Republic of Macedonia, Turkey and United Arab Emirates.  Over three thousand workers and 38 companies worked on this masterpiece. The mosque is designed by marble, crystals, gold, semi-precious stones and ceramics. Its style was inspired by the Persian, Mughal, and Moorish architecture, especially the Badshahi Mosque in Lahore, Pakistan and Al Hassan II Mosque in Casablanca in Morocco.
