Kuwait International Airport

Kuwait International Airport lies in Farwaniyah in Kuwait. It is located 15.5 kilometers south of Kuwait City. The Kuwait International Airport covers an area of 37.7 kilometers square. The Kuwait International Airport is a hub for Kuwait Airways and Jazeera Airways. It doesn’t only serve as a normal airport, it includes the Kuwait Air Force and the Kuwait Air Force Museum as well.

The Kuwait International Airport was first opened to the public in 1927, and it was used by the British people as a stop for their planes in their long way to India. Then the airport was expanded in the period of 1999 – 2001, and a new general aviation terminal was finished in 2008.

And finally the department of Civil Aviation announced in 2011, the plans for expanding Kuwait International Airport in order to be capable of handling additional travelers and airplanes. The Ministry of Public Works in Kuwait has mentioned that the project of the new terminal of the Kuwaiti International Airport is going to be finished by the last quarter of 2016, and project of expanding the airport is expected to cost them approximately 900 million Kuwait Dinar which equals 3.2 billion American dollars.

The firm that was working on the project had to quit in June 2014 because of many reasons, and it left the project incomplete, but three new companies cooperated together in August 2014 to finish the project.
