Palm Jumeirah

Palm Jumeirah is an artificial group of islands in the UAE. It is designed by Helman Hurly Charvat Peacock Architects, created by Nakheel, and it belongs to the Dubai government.

The Palm Jumeriah is the smallest of the Palm islands that are planned to be constructed, these islands are called Palm Jebel, Palm Jumeirah and Palm Deira. These palms will extend Dubai’s shoreline by 520 kilometers.

The Palm Jumeirah is built in June 2001, it is already known for being the largest artificial island. In 2009, 28 hotels were opened, 500 families found their homes there.

The Palm Jumeirah is connected by the main land by a monorail which is inaugurated on the 6th of May 2009. This monorail is 5.4 kilometers long, and it is the first of its kind in the Middle East.
